The "2025 KidWind Challenge in Asia" Elementary and Junior High School Division Final and Awards Ceremony was held successfully at the Chung-Cheng Hall on the Gongguan Campus of National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU)!
This year's annual event attracted nearly fifty teams. Competing students brought their meticulously self-made wind turbine models for rigorous wind tunnel testing, competing not only on energy conversion efficiency but also on their engineering design ingenuity and scientific inquiry skills.
At the opening ceremony, Professor Chou, Chairman of the Asia-Pacific Energy & Science Education Association, stated that the KidWind League has become the largest student wind competition in Asia. He noted its founding purpose was to help students learn teamwork and gain valuable growth experiences during the competition. US KidWind representative Kathy Jackson and other international guests also highly praised the creativity and technical skills displayed by the Taiwanese students, believing the event has successfully promoted international exchange in science education.
This competition fully demonstrated the significant progress our elementary and junior high school students have made in turbine knowledge over the past seven years, and it was also regarded as the most challenging competition to date. Students needed to demonstrate excellent teamwork and time management skills. They had to queue for measurements between two wind tunnels while simultaneously navigating to the judging rooms to complete their oral presentations, making the entire process highly challenging and truly placing the initiative back in the hands of the student participants.
After a full day of intense competition, Chief Judge Professor Chien Lien-kuei stated at the evening's closing awards ceremony that every team showed outstanding creativity and team spirit, and regardless of the results, all participants were winners who dared to challenge themselves. The most exciting news was also announced: The top three teams from this competition will earn the qualification to represent Asia at the "World KidWind Challenge" to be held in Houston, USA, next May!
