To address global climate change and energy shortages, governments worldwide are vigorously promoting new energy policies and emphasizing universal energy education. The Asia-Pacific Energy & Science Education Association (a.k.a. AESEA) was established in 2024. AESEA has been invited to collaborate with domestic and international energy and science education experts and has taken on the KidWind competition, supported by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory under the U.S. Department of Energy. AESEA is the sole partner in the Asia-Pacific region and is committed to training and certifying teachers and educational institutions to meet KidWind standards, aiming to popularize and deepen energy and science education and cultivate future professionals in the energy field.
AESEA regularly organizes various energy and science competitions annually, including the KidWind competition, digital science competitions, and the iBridge Cup bridge design and load-bearing competition. These activities align with the spirit of STEM education. The purpose of these competitions is to encourage students to apply classroom knowledge to real-world situations. Through collaborative analysis, evaluation, and design improvements, students deepen their understanding and engagement with energy and science. Participating students not only develop practical skills but also enhance teamwork and creative thinking, which are crucial for their future development in the energy and science fields.
In terms of energy education training and certification, AESEA focuses on STEM and energy education. It introduces the KidWind content from the United States and offers a comprehensive international energy education certification teacher training program. AESEA regularly holds training sessions to provide effective professional development for educators interested in energy teaching, helping them obtain KidWind certified teacher qualifications. These training sessions aim to enhance teachers' professional capabilities, promote the development of energy education, and ensure that students receive accurate and high-quality energy knowledge.
In conclusion, through various energy and science competitions and teacher training programs, AESEA is dedicated to promoting energy and science education in the Asia-Pacific region, cultivating more professionals to address global energy challenges.
