Establishment Background
Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners P/S (CIP) was founded in 2012 by senior energy industry executives and PensionDanmark, one of Denmark’s largest pension funds. CIP is a fund management company specializing in energy infrastructure, with core businesses including offshore wind, onshore wind, solar energy, biomass, energy transmission, and storage. CIP and its wind farm projects have offices in Europe, Asia, the Americas, Australia, and Taiwan. CIP manages 12 funds with approximately €32 billion in assets and is supported by 180 international institutional investors from the Nordics, continental Europe, the UK, the Americas, Asia, Australia, and multilateral organizations such as the EIB.
CIP in Taiwan
CIP entered Taiwan in 2017 and, by 2024, successfully completed the Changfang and Xidao Offshore Wind Farms (600 MW) and the Zhongneng Offshore Wind Farm (300 MW, in partnership with China Steel Corporation) off the coast of Changhua. These projects provide clean energy to over one million Taiwanese households. CIP is also actively involved in Taiwan’s third phase of offshore wind development. Its Fengmiao Wind Farm was awarded 500 MW in the first round of the 3-1 phase in 2022 and secured long-term power purchase agreements with six major Taiwanese and international companies, making it the most stable project in the third phase. These achievements not only advance Taiwan’s energy transition but also drive local industry and financial institution participation, enhancing Taiwan’s competitiveness in green energy.
Contributions to Taiwan’s Education
CIP is committed to talent development and green energy education. In 2025, CIP significantly sponsored the KidWind Challenge in Asia, supporting Taiwanese students in wind energy design contests to promote environmental education. CIP has developed green energy education programs for all age groups, including community briefings, interactive booths, wind science workshops for elementary students, and empowerment lectures for high school students. In 2023, CIP partnered with the Coast Guard Administration’s Central Branch to adopt the Wuchi Marine Station, establishing an offshore wind knowledge zone to deepen green energy education. Additionally, CIP collaborates with local universities on industry-academia programs, bringing practical industry experience into classrooms through professional instructors from the supply chain. This initiative helps students seamlessly transition into the wind energy sector, enhancing future employment opportunities.
