March 14th, 2026
FOBISIA STEM: KidWind Challenge 2026 was successfully held and concluded on March 14th and 15th! This event was specially held in collaboration with FOBISIA (Federation of British International Schools in Asia), successfully bringing together elite teams from Taiwan, Hong Kong, and the Philippines. A total of 50 outstanding students competed on the same stage, writing a brilliant chapter for the promotion of renewable energy education and sustainable development concepts.
Challenge Upgraded: Brand-New Competition Format Tests Comprehensive Green Energy Literacy
During the intensive one-and-a-half-day competition, participating students faced immense engineering challenges. In addition to the existing "Wind Turbine Performance Measurement" and "Judges' Presentation Scoring (including Engineering Notebook Review)", this competition introduced a brand-new rule for the first time—incorporating an "Online Green Energy Knowledge Test" into the overall score evaluation.
Students not only had to continuously test and modify their designs in wind tunnels under two different wind conditions, but also had to overcome a series of engineering difficulties. Participating teams were required to demonstrate their wind turbine design, performance testing, and engineering thinking within a limited time. This was not only a test of technical skills but also a comprehensive evaluation of creativity, professionalism, and environmental responsibility.
A Powerful Alliance: FOBISIA and KidWInd Co-create an International Stage for Showcasing Talent
Originating in the United States, the KidWind Challenge has been deeply rooted globally for 15 years, dedicated to cultivating students' understanding and application capabilities of renewable energy by combining science education with hands-on practice. Meanwhile, FOBISIA, as an important alliance promoting cooperation among British international schools in Asia, continues to advance transnational education quality and diverse learning. The collaboration between the two parties this time not only symbolizes the close integration of international educational exchange and sustainable development concepts, but also guides students to propose solutions from innovative perspectives when facing global energy challenges.
Honor Roll: Congratulations to All Winning Teams!
After fierce competition and evaluation, the following teams ultimately stood out and achieved outstanding results:
🏆 Gold Award: Taipei European School — Road to MIT
🥈 Silver Award: Taipei European School — Windbreaker
🥉 Bronze Award: Taipei European School — Shrimptastic
🎖️ Judges' Choice Award: British School Manila (BSM) — Lions on Tour
🌟 KidWind Spirit Award: Kellett School (Hong Kong) — Kellett Kinnickkinnic
[Special Commendation: The Never-Give-Up KidWind Spirit]
The Kellett Kinnickkinnic team from Kellett School (Hong Kong), which won the "KidWind Spirit Award" this time, deeply moved all the judges and participants with their spirit of fighting until the very last moment, despite it being their first time competing. Facing initial flaws in their wind turbine design, they did not get discouraged; instead, they demonstrated strong problem-solving skills, continuously modifying and improving within the time limit, and ultimately successfully completed the wind tunnel test! This is exactly the highest value the KidWind Challenge aims to convey—learning from failure and growing through challenges.
[Special Acknowledgements]
At the same time, we would also like to express our special thanks to the host of this event—"Taipei European School"—for their enthusiastic hosting and for providing such excellent competition venues and resources. We also want to extend our deepest gratitude to all the organizing staff, the judging panel, and the instructing teachers from each school. It is because of your hard work and dedication that this transnational green energy grand event could be completed smoothly and successfully.
We look forward to more young students joining the ranks of green energy innovation in the future, and we will see you at the 2026 KidWind Challenge in Asia at the end of the year!
