To plant the seeds of renewable energy deep within our schools, the AESEA is honored to have partnered with CIP’s Fengmiao Offshore Wind Farm. With the full support of Kanglang Elementary School, we successfully hosted a unique and engaging "Wind Energy Teacher Workshop."
This event aimed to give educators hands-on experience with the wonders of wind power through practical construction and scientific inquiry, injecting new momentum into future green energy education.
A Collaborative Start for Industry & Academia: The event opened with a warm welcome from Principal Wang Sheng-zhong of Kanglang Elementary and Manager Jan from CIP, setting a positive tone for this industry-academic collaboration.
Hands-on Science Exploration: Led by Mr. Wu Ming-de, Supervisor of AESEA, the workshop guided teachers through the process of building mini wind turbines using everyday paper cups as blades. His clear, accessible teaching style made complex concepts easy to grasp.
Theory & Performance Optimization: Mr. Wu provided an in-depth look at core turbine design principles, including the interaction between lift and drag, and the critical performance metric known as the Tip Speed Ratio (TSR). Teachers learned how to optimize power generation efficiency through fluid dynamics, specifically by adjusting blade geometry and the angle of attack.
Precision Measurement & Engineering Experience: The excitement peaked during the testing phase. Using professional power sensors, each group measured the electrical output of their handmade turbines over a 30-second interval. By analyzing real-time data and adjusting variables, teachers experienced the same problem-solving satisfaction found in professional engineering.
To conclude the event, Secretary-General Yang Tien-To of APESEA introduced the rules and spirit of the internationally renowned "KidWind Challenge in Asia." Through a showcase of inspiring competition footage, the Association hopes to encourage more schools to form teams and participate.
The AESEA remains committed to promoting science education. We invite everyone to join us in the challenging and rewarding world of wind energy as we cultivate the green energy talent of tomorrow for a sustainable Taiwan!
