Looking back at 2025, it has been a fruitful and significant year for the Asia Pacific Energy Science & Education Association (AESEA). Upholding our mission of "Transforming Learners into Energy Practitioners," we not only led Taiwanese students to make history on the international stage but also successfully constructed a "talent pipeline" connecting K-12 education to the green energy industry through solid local cultivation and innovative international expansion.
Here are the Association’s four major glory milestones for the year:
I. Pinnacle of the World: Taiwan Clinches Double KidWind World Championships In May 2025, the Association led the Taiwan delegation to Phoenix, USA, to compete against 131 top teams from around the globe. The young Taiwanese representatives demonstrated exceptional engineering capabilities, achieving historic results:
World Champion (Elementary School Division): Hui-Wen Elementary School, Team "KILOWATTREL".
World Champion (High School Division): Mingdao High School, Team "Dr. Who's Teenagers".
Judges Award (High School Division): Taichung United Team (Taichung Municipal Taichung Industrial High School, Taichung First Senior High School, Taichung Girls' Senior High School), Team "Eagle Wings".
This honor received high recognition from the nation, with Premier Cho Jung-tai of the Executive Yuan personally receiving and commending the students, praising Taiwan's youth for demonstrating global leadership in the field of sustainable energy.
II. Crossing Borders: The Inaugural Thailand Regional Competition and the Growth of the Asia League This year, we successfully expanded our influence beyond Taiwan, officially stepping onto the "Asia-Pacific" stage:
The Birth of the Thailand Regional: In collaboration with King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL), we hosted the first-ever Thailand Regional Competition, attracting over 800 students and showcasing astonishing enthusiasm for green energy.
Asia League Finals: In November, elite teams from Taiwan and Thailand gathered in Taiwan for cross-border exchange. This event was not just a competition but a grand gathering of industry, government, and academia, receiving strong support from the Energy Administration (MOEA), the Climate Change Administration (MOENV), and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP).
III. Deepening Local Roots: Scientific Seeds Blooming Everywhere While moving towards the international stage, we have not forgotten our original intention of rooting education locally. In 2025, through island-wide teacher training and regional competitions, the Association passed the torch of green energy education to every corner of the campuses:
A Wave of National Leagues: We organized regional preliminaries in Northern, Central, and Southern Taiwan, as well as the Chiayi Wind Cup, with over 100 teams and more than 400 students dedicating themselves to practical challenges.
Establishing a Certification System: To ensure teaching quality aligns with international standards, we established the "KidWind Distinguished School" certification program. Wagor International School (Beitun Campus, Elementary Department) and Tainan Little Stark Lab became the first certified school in Taiwan and the first certified laboratory in the Southern region, respectively, introducing standard wind tunnels and Vernier data sensors.
IV. Cross-Disciplinary Innovation: iBridge Structural Load Challenge Beyond wind energy, the Association is also dedicated to cultivating cross-disciplinary engineering literacy. This year, partnering with the Department of Civil Engineering at National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology (NKUST), we successfully held the "iBridge Cup: Bridge Load and Innovation Design Competition." Introducing the GoDirect Structures & Materials Tester for the first time allowed students to gain a profound understanding of structural mechanics principles through real-time data visualization.
【Outlook for 2026】The Wind Never Ceases, Our Steps Never Halt
The harvest of 2025 is the result of the collective efforts of countless teachers, students, parents, and partners. Looking ahead to 2026, we will continue to expand our impact:
Launching the "2026 FOBISIA Cup KidWind Challenge" to deepen international exchange.
Challenging the World Championship once again, leading a new batch of Asian champions to the US to win glory for the nation.
Cultivating future engineering talent through training in data analysis and independent thinking, contributing to the future of the 2050 Net-Zero emission goal.
Thank you for witnessing this journey with us, "from a single seed to a thriving forest."
The journey continues. Join us.
