We are honored to have successfully co-organized the 2025 Chiayi Wind Cup STEAM+KidWind Sustainable Energy Competition at the Chiayi County Dongshi Junior High School Gymnasium. Fifteen student teams from elementary, junior high, and senior high schools across Chiayi County gathered to compete and explore the exciting potential of wind power as a green energy source. Led by our advisor, Professor Chio-Wu Su from the Department of Applied Physics at National Chiayi University, the event aimed to strengthen students’ and teachers’ understanding of wind power and renewable energy, while cultivating interdisciplinary innovation and hands-on problem-solving skills. This competition combined education with practical training, creating a rich, enjoyable, and meaningful experience that highlighted the integration of STEAM education with sustainability.

At the opening ceremony, several distinguished guests attended to encourage the students, including representatives from the Chiayi County Department of Education and our association’s Chairperson, Professor Chien-Heng Chou. In their remarks, the guests inspired participants to unleash their creativity and strive for excellence. Before the competition began, our Chairperson, Professor Chou, delivered an engaging lecture on wind energy, helping students strengthen their knowledge prior to the hands-on challenges. 🏫💡

During the competition, teams designed wind turbines using the KidWind advanced kits and presented their ideas with posters. Students carefully adjusted blade shapes, numbers, and angles based on wind energy principles, producing unique turbine designs. From brainstorming to assembly and testing, they combined theoretical learning with practical application, overcoming challenges with enthusiasm and teamwork. ⚙️🌬️

In the afternoon finals, the organizers set up wind tunnel facilities to measure the energy output of each team’s turbine. Four academic experts served as judges, evaluating based on efficiency, creativity, implementation, and presentations. The jury highly commended the students’ innovative spirit and hands-on abilities. 🎖️👏
