We, the Asia-Pacific Energy Science Education Association, in collaboration with the Army Academy, successfully concluded the 2025 National High School Summer Science Camp on August 31, engaging nearly 100 high school students from across Taiwan. The camp centered on the KidWind Challenge, integrating green energy education to ignite students’ interest in renewable energy and foster hands-on skills and teamwork. Students worked in groups to design wind turbines, optimize power generation, and tested their creations in a wind tunnel, with many thrilled to light up bulbs through their efforts, fueling their passion for science.
Beyond KidWind, the camp featured drone operation competitions, digital exploration challenges, and a visit to the Huangpu Military Academy Museum, blending technology and defense education to broaden students’ perspectives. Evening welcome parties and talent shows fostered bonding, allowing students to connect with like-minded peers while learning.
In partnership with Professor Hung Wei-Ching, we championed the KidWind Challenge, upholding the “learn by doing” philosophy to cultivate scientific literacy through practical engagement. Since its introduction to Taiwan in 2019, our association has developed a robust training system, selecting outstanding students to compete internationally. The 2025 KidWind Challenge in Asia is now open for registration (until 5:00 PM on September 12), with teams of four students and one advisor, free of charge and open to cross-school participation. Top teams will represent Taiwan at the 2026 KidWind World Championship. We invite more teachers and students to join us in driving green energy education forward!
