Ther Asia-Pacific Energy & Science Education Association held the "Wind Power is Fun" teacher training workshop at Keelung City's Changxing Elementary School, led by our supervisor and author of Wind Power is Fun, Teacher Wu Mingde. The event attracted 20 local primary and secondary school teachers, with sessions held in the school's maker classroom, guiding teachers from wind energy concepts to hands-on practice, transforming scientific knowledge into teaching experiences.
The morning session, "Wind Power is Fun – Wind Energy Concepts and Basic Demonstrations," featured Teacher Wu explaining wind energy principles and turbine blade design in an accessible way, using dynamic demonstrations to help teachers easily grasp wind power mechanisms. The afternoon session, "Wind Power is Fun – Wind Energy Teaching Aids and Applications," involved teachers working in groups to create mini wind power teaching aids and learning classroom applications, experiencing the joy of transforming knowledge.
Teachers were fully engaged, deepening their understanding of wind power through model assembly and hands-on activities. They expressed great satisfaction, highly praising the blend of theory and practice. We believe this workshop not only equips teachers with green energy teaching skills but also guides students and educators to explore renewable energy science, aligning with the KidWind competition’s mission of "exploring clean energy creatively."
Per Taiwan’s 2050 Net-Zero Transition Plan, wind and solar power are key to energy transformation. This event highlights grassroots education’s focus on sustainable energy and integrates energy science into curricula. Moving forward, we will continue promoting technology education workshops, hoping more teachers will incorporate green energy concepts into teaching, fostering sustainable education.
