The Taiwan team participated in the 2025 World KidWind Challenge held in Phoenix, Arizona, from May 18 to 21, 2025, and won multiple prestigious awards, including the world championships in both the elementary and high school divisions, showcasing exceptional performance. The KidWind Challenge, organized by the U.S. nonprofit KidWind and supported by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) under the U.S. Department of Energy, encourages students to design and build small-scale wind turbines and solar energy systems to foster awareness of clean energy and climate change. The competition attracts hundreds of top student teams globally each year, with this year’s event bringing together 131 teams and nearly 500 students from 26 U.S. states, Taiwan, Mexico, and other regions.
The Taiwan team, having excelled in the KidWind Asia Competition organized by the Asia-Pacific Energy Science Education Association, advanced to the world stage. Through relentless effort, they demonstrated outstanding skill and teamwork, securing world championships in both the elementary and high school divisions, along with the high school Judges’ Award, making them the biggest winners of the event. These achievements highlight Taiwan’s competitiveness in green energy education and engineering, as well as the passion and innovative talent of Taiwanese students in green energy technology.
