The “KidWind Challenge in Asia Miaoli Region Briefing” was grandly held at Yu-Da University of Science and Technology, hosted by the university and co-organized by our association. The event drew enthusiastic participation from elite students of several Miaoli schools, including the Bio-Mechatronics and Sheet Metal Departments of National Miaoli Agricultural and Industrial Vocational High School, the Information Department of Chung Hsing Commercial High School, and the Information and Plumbing/Electrical Departments of Junyi High School.
The event was star-studded with distinguished guests, including Professor Lin Yen-tsen, Dean of Research and Development at Yuda University; Professor Yeh Lü-tso, Chair of the Intelligent Mechatronics Engineering and Application Department; Mr. Cheng An-pang, Internship Director at Miaoli Agricultural and Industrial High School; Dr. Tsai Ping-kun, Chair of the Mechatronics Department; and Yang Tien-To, Secretary-General of the Asia-Pacific Energy & Science Education Association. Secretary-General Yang introduced the history of the KidWind competition and this year’s rules, helping Miaoli students participating for the first time to grasp the competition’s direction.
Professor Lin Yen-Tsen emphasized, “We hope this briefing will plant the seeds of green energy in Miaoli and, through the KidWind Challenge, encourage students to create wind turbine projects and put their ideas into practice.”
During the briefing, students actively asked questions about wind power generation, showcasing their hands-on spirit and strong ambition. The organizers arranged real wind tunnel tests and simulations with KidWind basic kits, allowing students to experience the competition process firsthand, sparking creativity, and prompting immediate ideas for wind turbine improvements.
In the past, Central Taiwan’s participating teams mainly came from Taichung and Nantou. This year, Miaoli’s inclusion injects fresh energy into the competition. The Central Taiwan preliminary round is set for September 27, 2025, and there is high anticipation for Miaoli students to bring their passion and creativity to the stage, delivering outstanding performances and sparking more green energy innovations alongside other teams.
